Simple Homey Things

I love life's simple homey things,

like when my tea kettle whistles when it sings.

Some fresh cut flowers in a vase,

A wind-blown curtain's billowed grace,

A loaf of good Italian bread,

A warm inviting feather bed.

Barz

before I start this,

I'd like to say a prayer for protection,

that never we misguided - or led to misdirection,

and even when we lied too

see loses as blessing

it's harder truly expressing your mind when you obsessing.

The Bright Darkness of My Day

Each day I rise to a world that is bright with darkness. The cause of that blind spot is sorrow clouding over my heart, a saddening overcast that won't depart.

Blackness at noon . . . .

Inpenetrable, yet transparent . . . .

The evil force enshrouds me.

Contraband

Freedom: Is contraband in prison because free-thinking and independence of spirit and open-mindedness are like acids that eat away at all prison bars and locked doors liberating the heart and mind even when the body is not free.

Just Let Me Go

This piece is my attempt to put into words the power my vice had over me, and the realization that the goal I've had of being able to overcome it is actually attainable.

                                  ________

Omnipotent. That's the best word I can come up with for the vice that has controlled my life. It is oppressive, controlling, destructive, insatiable, unceasing, but above all, it is omnipotent.

I'm telling you no lie

it shined in 7 colors

but not up in the sky

Never Leave

I will never turn my back,

I will never leave

we were so close

people couldn't believe,

I blame Everyone,

except you,

except me,

Because you accepted me

no matter where I'd be.

Rebirth

This ghazal was my attempt at conveying everything I spiritually felt with my first prison Sweat Lodge with my adapted tribe.

                                    _______

Crawling into the womb, I search for the new me.
Pitch black, but the coal send crimson glow right to me.
